Legally blind and trapped in an abusive relationship, Bradford leads an isolated existence with nobody to turn to except his beloved guide dog, Brendan. On a rare night out at a bear bar in Newtown, he meets burly Bruno, who steps in after witnessing Bradford being harassed by his boyfriend Jarrod. Bruno and Bradford experience an instant chemistry and discover they have a lot in common - including the fact both of them are in open relationships with partners who stray a lot.
As Bradford and Bruno find themselves hurtling headlong into a clandestine affair, Jarrod’s abusive behaviour towards Bradford begins to escalate. Unable to deal with the shame and embarrassment, Bradford refuses to tell anyone how dire his situation has become.
Meanwhile, Bruno’s twenty-year partnership is drawing to an amicable close. There’s love there in spades, but the romance and sex has died off years ago, leaving only a close brotherly bond. Bruno struggles with his sudden loss of identity, but his fear is assuaged by the intense feelings he has developed for Bradford.
Together, the two men find a strength and tenacity they never knew they had, supporting each other as they escape their unhappy lives and forge a loving future together.
