''Peering Through: Sharing Decades of Queer Experience'' recollects the everyday lives of LGBTIQA+ elders in Australia. Their knowledge and stories cover decades of unique challenges, triumphs, tragedy, and daily routines. These stories, dating from the 1940s to the present day, provide detailed insight into the paths queer people took when governments, medical systems, and many other institutions followed policies that sought to harm or even erase the existence of LGBTIQ people.

The structure of the anthology intertwines the unique personal stories chronologically alongside major queer historical events to highlight how these moments influenced our elders’ lives. ''Peering Through'' includes the live stories of some locally recognisable people, including Mahamati who started Bfriend in SA and several early HIV/Aids related programs, and David Hood who is a 78er and worked for decades in the community and on radio. Some of the others include Gabby who transitioned late in life and has a large online following, and a few contributors who for employment reasons have added their stories under pseudonyms.

Part of the proceeds from the book's sale will support the Parkstone Foundation, which is involved with LGBTIQA+ community projects
