Elio is the 17 year old, sensitive and artistic son of a prominent professor. One long hot summer, at his family's holiday home on the Italian Riviera, he finds himself troublingly attracted to Oliver, a visiting American scholar. Oliver is 24, breezy, spontaneous, breath-takingly beautiful, and seemingly oblivious to the effect he is having on Elio.
Over the restless summer weeks, currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify for Elio, and possibly for Oliver as well. As things become more and more charged between them, the two verge toward the one thing both fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy.
This beautiful, erotic and often very visceral novel is exquisitely written, with a depth of feeling and an attention to physical, psychological and emotional nuances which capture the agony and ecstasy of first love, and will appeal to anyone who's ever ached with desire.
The movie adaptation of this novel, starring Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer, and directed by Luca Guadagnino (''I Am Love''), got rave reviews on its premiere at the 2017 Sundance film festival, and is continuing to do so wherever it screens. This is the Film Tie-In edition
